We are pleased to announce the availability of SimpLite and SimpPro 2.5.4. This version is principally a maintenance release, aimed at correcting an incompatibility with recent changes in the Yahoo! Messenger servers.
All Yahoo! Messenger users are urged to upgrade, as only version 2.5.4 is compatible with these recent changes.
If you are not able to have encrypted conversations in Yahoo! Messenger, make sure that both you and your contacts use version 2.5.4 of either SimpLite or SimpPro.

]]>We are proud to announce the availability of Simp 2.5, which is the first version to be compatible with Windows Live Messenger / MSN Messenger 2011 and AIM/ICQ 7.
All users of SimpLite-MSN, SimpLite-AIM and SimpPro are strongly encouraged to upgrade, as previous versions are not compatible with the latest official IM clients.
Please note that due to major protocol changes beyond our control, the WLM/MSN and AIM/ICQ encryption engines of Simp 2.5 and higher are not and will never be backward compatible with Simp 2.2. Attempts to establish encrypted MSN or AIM/ICQ chats between users of Simp 2.5 and Simp 2.2 will fail. However, the upgrade process will not affect existing keys and settings.
Simp 2.5 can be downloaded from the 'Product updates' section of our web site.
Known limitations: a bug prevents 4096-bit keys from being exchanged. A patch is under way.
]]>Due to the multiplicity of protocol changes in WLM 2011 compared to previous versions, we have been forced to postpone the release of an updated version of SimpLite and SimpPro. As of 10/21/2010, SimpLite and SimpPro are not compatible with Windows Live Messenger 2011. As a result, we recommend against upgrading to WLM 2011 for now.
We are still working on that new version, and will post a beta as soon as it is ready, in early November.
Note that the new version will not be compatible with previous releases of Simp.

We recommend against installing them, as no encryption will be possible.

]]>Trillian 4 (Astra) is not compatible with the autoconfiguration feature of SimpPro / SimpLite.
The symptoms are: connection to the IM service is not possible or gets dropped after a few seconds.
However, it is possible to disable the autoconfiguration and manually configure Trillian.

]]>AVG 8.0, recently released, includes an Instant Messaging scanning feature called 'Instant Messaging protection'.
That feature is incompatible with SimpLite and SimpPro. When enabled, AVG's Instant Messaging protection will prevent SimpLite and SimpPro from starting.
A workaround is to disable the Instant Messaging protection option, in AVG's Web Shield preferences.
