Compatibility with Windows Live Messenger 2010 Beta

SimpPro and SimpLite-MSN, our IM encryption products, are not currently compatible with Windows Live Messenger 2010 Beta.

Due to changes in the communication protocol, our products are not currently compatible with the Beta versions of Windows Live Messenger 2010.

We recommend against installing them, as no encryption will be possible.

Our team is currently working on a new version of SimpPro and SimpLite-MSN to provide compatibility with Windows Live Messenger 2010. This new version should be ready by mid-August.

Compatibility with Windows 7

Recent versions of SimpLite and SimpPro are compatible with Windows 7.

The following versions of SimpLite and SimpPro have been successfully tested with Windows 7:

SimpPro: 2.2.19
SimpLite for MSN Messenger: 2.2.19
SimpLite for Yahoo! Messenger: 2.2.17
SimpLite for ICQ/AIM: 2.2.12
SimpLite for Jabber: 2.2.3

Compatibility with Trillian 4 (Astra)

Trillian 4 (Astra) is not compatible with the autoconfiguration feature of SimpPro / SimpLite.

The symptoms are: connection to the IM service is not possible or gets dropped after a few seconds.

However, it is possible to disable the autoconfiguration and manually configure Trillian.

Issues with AVG 8.0

AVG 8.0 introduces a new feature which is incompatible with SimpLite and SimpPro.

AVG 8.0, recently released, includes an Instant Messaging scanning feature called 'Instant Messaging protection'.

That feature is incompatible with SimpLite and SimpPro. When enabled, AVG's Instant Messaging protection will prevent SimpLite and SimpPro from starting.

A workaround is to disable the Instant Messaging protection option, in AVG's Web Shield preferences.

New versions of SimpPro and SimpLite-MSN

SimpPro and SimpLite 2.2.15 are out. They bring compatibility with the new Windows Live Messenger 2009.

SimpPro and SimpLite-MSN 2.2.15 have been released to address a compatibility issue with Windows Live Messenger 2009.

Please note tat Windows Live Messenger 2009 introduces a new feature which makes it possible to be signed in from multiple locations. Our products do not yet support that feature.

Simp and AIM 6.5

The current versions of SimpLite and SimpPro are incompatible with AIM 6.5. We are working on a new version.

AIM 6.5 uses a new communication protocol. It is incompatible with SimpLite-AIM/ICQ and SimpPro.

We are currently working on a new version of SimpLite-AIM/ICQ and SimpPro.

Please note that the new communication protocol used by AIM 6.5 features SSL encryption between AIM clients and servers. Messages are thus protected from casual aggressors. However, they are not protected against server-level interceptions.

SimpPro and SimpLite-Yahoo! 2.2.9 released

A new version of SimpPro and SimpLite-Yahoo! has been released to fix the recent Yahoo! Messenger issues.

Last week, Yahoo! upgraded the Yahoo! Messenger servers. The new server software was incompatible with SimpLite and SimpPro.

We are pleased to announce the availability of updated versions of SimpPro and SimpLite-Yahoo!. These versions are fully compatible with the latest Yahoo! Messenger servers and clients. They also include a fix for Pidgin (GAIM 2.0). We urge our Yahoo! Messenger users to upgrade to SimpLite-Yahoo! 2.2.9 or SimpPro 2.2.9.

Issues with Yahoo! Messenger

SimpLite and SimpPro are disconnected of the Yahoo! Messenger service when trying to send instant messages. We are currently working on a fix. In the meantime, the only workaround is to disable Simp.

Users of our products, SimpPro and SimpLite-Yahoo!, are currently experiencing problems on the Yahoo! Messenger network. They are disconnected from the service when trying to send instant messages.

Unfortunately, there is currently no workaround other than disabling SimpPro or SimpLite. Conversations will be unencrypted.

SimpPro users can only disable the Yahoo! Messenger encryption code. To do that, open SimpPro and click File > Configure... > IM clients. Uncheck Yahoo! Messenger 7.5/8.x and restart SimpPro, then Yahoo! Messenger.

We are currently working on a fix and will post updates on our Web site.
